Blender 2.8 select edge loop12/5/2023 The tip about sliding as closely as possible and then snapping seems to do the job for now, but I’d still like to see this added. Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it. Thanks for the links, I will check them out. 99% of the tutorials on modeling architectural stuff in Blender I’ve seen have been using images of the drawings rather than the actual drawings in DXF format where you need to snap to the vertices while sliding edge loops in order to be precise. I hope there is a way because I really like Blender 2.8 otherwise, but this is a serious deal breaker for me and many other people like me that do arch-vis professionally and need to be exact with their 3D models. This is an absolutely crucial functionality for anyone that does serious arch-vis work and if Blender can’t snap to vertices while sliding edges, I’m not sure if I’ll be switching to it. I have searched the internet extensively for the past couple of days and I’ve still not found a way to snap an edge loop to a vertex in Edge Slide mode. ![]() Any idea how to make it snap to vertices in Edge Slide mode? For me it snaps only in increments of 1/10 of the distance to the opposite edge loops. Blender doesn’t seem to snap to vertices in Edge Slide mode, I’ve tried many times. I want to slide the edge loop and snap the loop to a vertex at the same time. Thanks for the tip, but I was talking about snapping in Edge Slide mode, not while moving it with the move/grab tool. If it’s an existing edge loop, select it first (shift alt rmb i think) then as above Then snap to any vertex - even on another object ![]() ![]() Hit gx or gy to move it along x or y direction If it’s an edge loop that you have just created …Ĭlick to locate the loop close to where you want it Here’s a new book that I will certainly be buyingĭo you have snapping activated and set to vertex snapping, closest? there are a growing number of addons that make it easier, for exampleĪ few links to archvis people who use blender extensively.native blender tools are ever improving - booleans for example.it has superb and highly customisable lighting, camera setup, rendering capabilities.Any idea about good arch-vis modeling tutorials? Do you even recommend Blender for arch-vis modeling or is it still not good enough for this purpose even at version 2.8?īlender is fast becoming a serious contender in the arch vis field …
